{"id":436,"date":"2024-01-30T17:12:11","date_gmt":"2024-01-31T01:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fwhb.ca\/?page_id=436"},"modified":"2024-08-13T08:59:29","modified_gmt":"2024-08-13T15:59:29","slug":"436-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fwhb.ca\/?page_id=436","title":{"rendered":"Loads"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Loads on falsework<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vertical loads applied on falsework are defined as per below<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>DL<\/td><td>The minimum self-weight of the formwork: <strong>\\(DL = 0.48 kPa\\)<\/strong> or <strong>\\(10 psf\\)<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>LL<\/td><td>Weight of workers, tool and equipment: <strong>\\(LL = 1.9 kPa\\)<\/strong> or <strong>\\(40 psf\\)<\/strong><br>When concrete placing is done with motorized equipment or for heavy civil construction (bridge, subways and tunnels): <strong>\\(LL = 3.1 kPa\\) <\/strong>or <strong>\\(65 psf\\)<\/strong>.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>C<\/td><td>Concrete density: <strong>\\(\\rho_c = 24 \\frac{kN}{m^3}\\)<\/strong> or <strong>\\(150 \\frac{lb}{ft^3}\\)<\/strong><br>Concrete weight: <strong>\\(C = \\rho_ch\\)<\/strong> where <strong>h<\/strong> is the concrete depth<br>Minimum concrete weight: <strong>\\(C = 2.4 kPa\\)<\/strong> or <strong>\\(50 psf\\)<\/strong> (equivalent to a 100mm depth of concrete)<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Clause 5.4.2<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The horizontal loads applied on falsework are defined as per below<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>W<\/td><td>The wind load can&#8217;t be less than recommended by the National Building Code of Canada (NBC) with 1\/50 probability, gust factor of 2 and reduction factor of 0.75 for falsework erected during less than 2 years.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>H<\/td><td>The greater force between 2% of the total vertical loads or <strong>\\(H = 1.46 \\frac{kN}{m}\\)<\/strong> or <strong>\\(100 \\frac{lb}{ft}\\)<\/strong> applied at the slab edge<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>E<\/td><td>Because of the temporary nature of the structures; seismic, rain and snow loads are in general neglected<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Clause 5.4.3<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Loads on formwork<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The horizontal loads applied on formwork are defined as per below<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>W<\/td><td>The wind load can&#8217;t be less than recommended by the National Building Code of Canada (NBC) with 1\/50 probability, gust factor of 2 and reduction factor of 0.75 but not less than <strong>\\(W = 0.8 kPa\\)<\/strong> or <strong>\\(16.5 psf\\)<\/strong><br>Clause 5.5.2<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>P<\/td><td>Wall form up to 1.2m high must be design for full liquid head pressure.
